Week 15 - Hootsuite Certification

Image
T his past week, I was able to take and successfully pass the Hootsuite Certification exam. Hootsuite is a very useful platform that is extremely helpful to social media marketing employees. It has a variety of features, such as a planner, calendar, and a section to analyze the data from posts. It is a tool that makes it easier to manage multiple social media accounts at once. The feature I thought was most helpful was the scheduling feature, where you have the capability to schedule a post on any social media network at any day or time that you would like. Utilizing this to plan content based around analytics on when your customers are active online can lead to higher engagement.  After I passed the certification exam, I took a screenshot of my certificate and also saved it to my computer. On LinkedIn, I added a tab for certifications that I did not have before. I was able to add my Hootsuite certification underneath it so that future employers can see it. I also edited my resume and

Week 14 - Marketing Yourself

Although I will not be graduating until May 2023, reading about what is in our best interest to exceed in a career post-graduation has been super helpful. I recently created a LinkedIn account over the summer, before this class started. I did not realize how vital of a tool this platform could be. Making connections with people could allow opportunities to open up for you that you might not have been offered without a presence on LinkedIn. The way I see it, LinkedIn is essentially a virtual resume that allows recruiters to see your experience and skills, to see if you are a good fit for their job.  Even though I am not graduating, I have been more active on LinkedIn and looking for different job openings. It’s important to me to be able to see what the job market is like, as well as get a feel for what kind of position I want to look for when it comes time for me to graduate. Seeing the different skills that employers are looking for is also beneficial because it can allow me time to

Week 13 - Freelancing

Being a social media manager was originally the career path I wanted to take after graduation. Creating content and analyzing engagement seemed like an aspect of business that would be super interesting. A social media manager, in my opinion, is vital to new businesses nowadays. Without an active social media presence, a lot of people don’t have any idea what your company is about. It allows you to be creative, while also providing valuable advertising to the business that would help them generate more customers, leading to more profit.  When I worked at an ice cream shop in high school, the owners asked me to help run their freshly created Tik Tok account. They paid me extra on top of the money that I was making regularly. I would have designated shifts where I would come in, just to create TikTok videos. Even though I worked for the company in another aspect I would still say this is an applicable example of freelancing. Instead of performing my usual task of scooping, I was managing
