Week Eight - SEO Certifications

How Combining SEO and Email Marketing for Better Results on SERPs
Before taking this class, I did not know much about SEO. I had no idea that it was important to a business and didn't know anything about it. After taking this class, I realize that SEO is a very important aspect in promoting a business. If businesses choose to use SEO to improve their rank, they are more likely to receive clicks from people on search engines. It is a great form of marketing that allows companies to utilize their skills and content to make it easier for consumers to find their things. 

I looked through the different certifications and thought that some of them might be very useful. Seeing how these certifications can separate you from other candidates, it seems worthwhile to put in the time to get the certifications. It is interesting to me that SEO is the highest profitable digital marketing service, because I never heard of it prior to taking this class. After learning about what it is, I can tell that it is a very important service, that has lots of benefits.

This week, I was able to set up my student Hootsuite account and play around with the features. It was relatively easy to get set up. This is a great platform where I will be able to gain a lot of valuable information about social media and how it can be used effectively in business. Once I have gone through all of the lessons and trainings, I can take the exam to become certified. Week Two - Top Skills

LinkedIn’s job search feature has proven to be very useful - and is something that I am rather familiar with. I found the job post for my current internship through LinkedIn and was able to secure the spot. After searching for social media marketing jobs, I was surprised to see how many volunteer positions came up. The other jobs that were posted listed useful information such as salary or hourly range, if benefits were offered, and the location and company of the job. Many social media marketing jobs were looking for a bachelor’s degree plus a few years of experience in the field. LinkedIn also provides helpful features that allow you to narrow down the search by using different filters.  For the data from 2018 provided by CASA, I was interested to see what kind of skills were most sought after during that year. Week 14 - Marketing Yourself

  Although I will not be graduating until May 2023, reading about what is in our best interest to exceed in a career post-graduation has been super helpful. I recently created a LinkedIn account over the summer, before this class started. I did not realize how vital of a tool this platform could be. Making connections with people could allow opportunities to open up for you that you might not have been offered without a presence on LinkedIn. The way I see it, LinkedIn is essentially a virtual resume that allows recruiters to see your experience and skills, to see if you are a good fit for their job.  Even though I am not graduating, I have been more active on LinkedIn and looking for different job openings. It’s important to me to be able to see what the job market is like, as well as get a feel for what kind of position I want to look for when it comes time for me to graduate.
