Week Three - Branding Impressions and Clicks

Branding and Impressions are a huge part of what makes a business successful on social media platforms. It can be a very effective way of reaching a group of consumers that would be interested in their product or service, but have no idea about the existence of it. If a company is posting advertisements but not receiving clicks on their posts, they will not be using their platforms for advertising in a beneficial way. Personally, social media advertisements are effective for me, because if it is something that I am interested in I will usually click on the advertisement to see.

Seeing Dr. Kelsey's real-life example of what an ad campaign looks like, including trends and data on how the advertisement was received allowed me insight on what kind of statistics businesses look at. Seeing the trends on how many clicks it received throughout the weeks of the campaign can be very beneficial at analyzing the impact of the campaign. Going through the campaign and seeing where his changes had an impact on the clicks was interesting, because the slightest change can alter the data, for better or for worse. Companies can use this information to see what works for them, and what doesn’t.

Being able to see where the clicks occurred can also be beneficial for a business. If it is a local company using social media to promote to those in the area, it would be helpful to see if their campaign was making an impact on the people in the surrounding areas. The mention of images in these advertisement campaigns are also crucial. Speaking from personal experience, I would be more likely to click on an advertisement if there was an appealing image attached to it.

The quality of advertisements are arguably the most important part of a brand choosing to use social media. If companies are putting out advertisements that are low quality, consumers will be uninterested in the content and won’t want to waste their time looking into it. The analytics are important because they provide insight on what a company can do to reach a larger audience.
