Week Four - SEO vs. PPC

In another article posted by Dr. Kelsey, I learned about the importance of differentiating between advertisements and search engine optimization. Advertisements seem to be short-term, and work to grow a businesses number of clicks for the time being. Search engine optimization can lead a business to have more clicks overtime if their website is optimized enough to be ranked on search engines. Speaking from personal experience, sometimes I hesitate to click on the websites that are labeled ‘ad’ on Google, just because I know that company paid for their website to be there. With search engine optimization, I feel that it is more beneficial for companies who want to see lasting results.

From reading the short concept, I realized that advertisements create faster results, which could lead to more money. However, SEO provides a more gradual change that can have better results over time. The profit made from SEO seems like it would be more worth it in the long run. If your business is looking for a temporary solution that brings clicks to their website, then I would recommend running advertisements to promote their sites. I thought that it was very interesting how the money per keyword in clicks can be different prices. Learning about the differences between the two was useful for future reference when recommending what a business does to grow their engagement.
